Makishi Ceremony

It’s fair to say that the makishi ritual is not widely known outside Zambia and even many well-informed tourists coming to the country may be unaware of its exitence. This is probably for two reasons: first, that the makishi is not necessarily understaken or promoted as a tourist attraction; Second the tribes that perform the ritual are located in a seemingly difficult-to- reach corner of Zambia.
The makishi ritual is not held on any particular day. Nevertheless, these days the ceremony is largely confined to the main school holiday period. So if you do want to see this amazing performance, then a good time to visit is during the months of December and January.
